  Using Sony DVMC-DA2 converter with FCP

  I am trying to digitize VHS tapes using the Sony DVMC-DA2 media converter with Final Cut Pro, but all I am getting in the log and capture is a blank gray screen. I have it on non-controllable device coming from a Panasonic VCR, through RCA cables. The firewire is coming from the Sony box into my Mac. Has anyone come across this problem before? I am thinking of using an S-video cable, but before I go out and buy one, I may be doing something small that could fix my problem. Any help would be appreciated.
