VCool graphics card fan – would it work?
When at my friendly neighborhood Best Buy this afternoon buying what looked like “a great deal” (an Iomega Prestige Hard Drive). 1TB for$120! Anyway, got home, did a bit of research, and found out it was pretty much a piece of doo-doo, BUT while i was there, i saw the VCool graphics card fan for $25 and thought it MIGHT solve my X800 graphic card overheating problem. The card is not dead yet, it just gets really hot and was fixed once by ATI/AMD, but it happened again, is out of warranty so now it’s time for a new one. I just can’t see spending several hundred for another one, when it might just be better to get a newer Mac with a better, faster, cheaper card anyway…
But, any thoughts on this fan? Has anyone tried one (or even NEEDED one)? The salespeople weren’t even sure if it would work in a Mac, but i might give it a try when i return this unopened Iomega drive…

For two or three years now I’ve been running a $19 Box Fan in front of all our Macs. Four Mac desktop side by side, Three RAIDS and a myriad of other equipment in three racks. Haven’t ever had a heating issue.
