P2 codec problem
I have a feature film that was shot with P2 cards. I have a final product on a drive. We have been burning dvds from my producer’s MAC and I just got the drive from him and am trying to burn them on my MACbook Pro with OS X version 10.5.6 w/ a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
The problem is is I am not getting picture when the file is opened in Quicktime. Only Audio. Then when I make a DVD it is only audio, no picture. I am afraid I may have erased a codec or something when I was cleaning it out last week.
What does this problem sound like?
I know all the media is fine. I am just missing some sort of software. BUT I don’t know what!!!

The DVCPRO HD codec only comes with FCP. If your computer does not have FCP installed, it cannot view the DVCPRO HD codec quicktime files. It doesn’t matter if it is a Mac or PC, without FCP installed, you cannot view these files.
You need to either purchase FCP and install it on this machine, or buy the Calibrated Software DVCPRO HD Decoder.

ok, its me again with the problem.
i now have picture but there are these grey rectangles. 3 on the right edge (1 in top corner and 1 in bottom). 3 on the left (1 in top corner and 1 in bottom). and 1 in the very middle. the strangest thing. never seen it before. they sit there permanently thru the whole film.

not sure if it is a screen grab. what is a screen grab? i have a very old version of final cut but i am not even using final cut. just opened in quicktime. it is like a big stamp of grey rectangles in all for corners, in the middle and on the sides.
it has to be the lack of some software or something on my macbook

That’s the demo watermark of our Calibrated{Q} DVCProHD Decode – once you purchase the full version then the watermark is removed.
Also, Jeremy, I dont think the Panasonic DVCProHD Decode component that comes with P2CMS works like you think it does – I tried it out awhile back and just now – and it’s never worked for me to open up DVCProHD QuickTime Movies in QuickTime Player or anywhere else.

You’re absolutely correct, Greg. I made a mistake. This codec allows a user to view MXF files (in something like P2CMS) on a system that doesn’t have FCP. Files that have been transcoded using log and transfer need the DVCPro HD codec that comes with FCP.
Sorry for the mistake, and thanks for helping to clarify.

I do not understand this water mark on a demo version for dvcpro hd decode!!!!!
I have never had this problem before and until someone suggested me downloading this demo version I cannot get this watermark off anything I do on my MAC. iweb, quicktime, toast, burning dvds, everything has the watermark now. How do I get rid of it??????????

The uninstall instructions are in the ReadMe but basically:
1. Delete Calibrated folder in Applications directory
2. Delete CalibratedDVCProHdCodec.component from the Library/Quicktime folder
3. RestartAnd you’re done
