  FCP can’t see Sony DVCAM DSR-1500AP

  I’ve just bought a new Mac Pro 8 core without FW400 ports. I’m trying to connect my Sony DSR-1500AP DVCAM deck via a FW400-FW800 6 pin-9pin lead into the FW800 port on the Mac Pro but it won’t recognise it in the system profiler or via FCP

  Any suggestions?

  As a start check “about this Mac” under the apple menu then “more info” then select the firewire bus to see if the device is recognized on the bus.

  I’d try another cable, and try another device on that computer’s firewire port.

  If another device works on that port, perhaps the firewire board inside the 1500 need to be re-seated.
