    Hi All,

    Here’s the questions

    (1)
I’m live capturing of an EX-3 over an SDI straight into a Blackmagic Multibridge Extreme, the camera will be shooting 720 25p. What’s the best quality setting for this that I can handle with a 400mb/s raid, Prores HQ, 10-bit, 10bit 444 RGB? I’m a tad confused.

    (2)
What is the pixel dimension of HDTV 720 25p, apparently FCP is stating it’s square but is that true, I’m just a bit uncertain. Does it change with different codecs?

    (3)
Finally what are the benefits of square pixels as opposed to rectangles?

Much Thanks for any help or suggestions.

    Matt

    best quality?
    1280×720 10-bit uncompressed

great quality at a reduced file size?
    1280×720 ProRes HQ (it’s 10-bit only)

    Hi Matt,
I don’t think you will be able to capture 10b RGB. Files are bigger than 10b Unc.
i would go for Proress HQ.
Your capture preset must be 1280×720 Square pixes.
HD pixels are for DVCProHD and HDV.

Is it possible to live capture with an animation codec from the HD-SDI output of the EX-3?

No. You can capture to Uncompressed 10bit HD if you really want to. I would just capture to ProRes though.
