I found a thread from a couple of years ago about .swf and .flv files in FCP, but figured the technology in two years might’ve improved a lot, so…can someone give me the skinny on these two file formats as they relate to FCP? Do I need to purchase a converter? Will AE convert them?

    Thanks,

    Pablo

For FLVs, I love Perian, a Quicktime component that is great. Ideally, you would probably want to recompress/export to a better format. For SWFs, you might need Flash…

I’m hoping there’s another way to convert the .swf file to an FCP-usable format other than purchasing the full version of Flash, but hey, if that’s what I must do, then I shall. Thanks,

I have read you can open and convert SWF to QT if you have a version of QT Pro that runs under Classic. That possibility is becoming more and more unlikely with Classic vanishing quickly. But I found several SWF to QT/FLV converters online, most for under $100, and some under $50. Good luck.
