    Hi All

So having some real problems with a HD master. Problem being according to a QC report that the blacks are sitting at -50mv and the luminance is peaking at 760mv but i can’t accurately resolve this problem in FCP. Does anyone know how to convert FCPs 0-100 to mv?

    cheers

    Hi Liam,
The Video signal is 1 Volt from Sync level (you won’t see that in FC scope) to White.
So you really go from -300 Mv to 700 Mv.
That means that the Black (blanking) level must seats at 0 Mv.
Look at the FC Scope. From the line tagged BLACK to the one tagged WHITE, is divided in 100 IRE units.
Those 100 IRE are equivalent to the 700 Mv of the active picture.
So you need to set the blacks of your movie to the level of the line that is wrote BLACK in the scope.
And you need to set whites of your movie to the high of the line called WHITE in the FC scope.
That is important because everything that goes under the BLACK or on top of the WHITE line will be clipped.
The FC Scope is the tool to control that.
