  • Best way to do scrolling text in standard DV?

So I’m completing the end credits for a standard-def project and the end credit scroll (moving from the bottom up) is very “wavy” as it scrolls. I’m using standard settings: DV/DVCPro NTSC 3:2 Interlaced Video.

Can I eliminate this waviness in FCP? I’ve already applied a flicker filter which helped the overall look, but it’s still quite wavy. Would it be better to do my credits in LiveType maybe? Any advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks.

Go into your sequence settings and change the compressor to ProRes. All graphics will look better. BTW the speed of your scroll can have an effect on the look, I’d try Boris Title Crawl. Very nice for this.

    Have a wonderful day.

I like to build my rolls in After FX. you can put adjust the motion blur and render it as progressive for the more smoothing. It does get a little tricky if you need to edit/revise the roll though…
