    Hello all,

I was wondering if i could get some help for a problem i’m having. I’m trying to digitize some VHS tapes. In the log and capture window under clip settings i chose DV NTSC 48 khz, using a Non-Controllable device. I have the VHS player hooked up to a Sony GV-HD 700 deck. When i hit esc to stop the capture i got the message:

The audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video and audio of these media files to be out of sync. Make sure the audio sample rate of your capture presets matches the audio sample rate of your tape.

Now i went to the capture presets and tried messing around with the Quicktime audio settings but whatever i changed it too i still got the same message. I tried built in in-put with 44.1 khz 16 bit 2 chan. I tried a bunch of things but the bottom line is i wasn’t able to figure out the audio sample rate of the tape. Is this what i need to know or is the Sony GV-HD700 deck changing something. i captured a 2 and a half hour video and it slowly slipped out of sync. I just want to know what i have to change to keep the video from slipping out of sync. Thank you in advance.

If you’re using the GV-HD 700 as an analog to digital converter then I would check the GV-HD 700’s audio settings. It may be set to 32kHz and that would cause your sync problem. Even though you’re using the 48kHz capture setting, you may be feeding 23kHz audio.

Thank you Lee, That was the problem. I changed the audio settings on the deck and i haven’t had any issues.
