  • all white screen in the canvas – cannot see the video when not playing

Posted by Brett Mccall on February 21, 2009 at 5:29 pm

i did something funny.. was using the marker to mark some clips so I can more easily identify their location! then i hit a key (i dont know which one, or which combination of keys I hit) after placing the playhead and the canvas is now WHITE when it is not playing. I cannot jog to see what is on the screen. It only shows the video when it is playing.

It must be something in the top left hand corner, but I am unable to determine what.

Note: this behavior exists with ALL my projects in FCP.
    I am running 5.1.4

or some other keystroke that caused this…. anyone know?

thanks for the look and the reply… and of course the solution!!

#15 White or Black Canvas or Viewer

Shane’s Stock Answer #15: White or Black Canvas or Viewer

Make sure the canvas or viewer are selected then go to VIEW>CHANNELS and set it to RGB. It might be set to ALPHA.

OMG, I’ve been dealing with this problem for about the past month – something got messed up when I imported something. Not sure how that setting got changed, but I assumed it was just the file I was working with. Tonight I opened a new project and same thing! I’m glad I came on here to see what I could do (troubleshooting on my own was less than productive because I started getting really mad!)
