    Hi there… folks…

Just received my new tascam fw-1082 mixer/control surface

Now i’m trying to set it up, but I can’t get some things to work

I first ran the installer (1.6) and did the firmware update..
Restarted the computer, connected the firewire connection between 1082 and computer.
    Turned on the tascam 1082…

Firewire button and Clock are green

I pressed the Control Panel button and in the Tasccam Manager,

    Midi is green,
Switched Control Protocol to Mackie Control Emulation.
    Clock Source : internal
    Sample Rate: 48000

    Next opened up FCP
in Audio/Video Settings set Audio Playback to Tascam 1082

    Next went to Tools>Control Surface
Added the 1082 with Input Connections to FW-1082 Port 1
Output Conncections to FW-1082 Port 2

Set the 1082 to Computer mode and opened up the Audio Mixer Window in FCP….

Now when i play a sequence I hear the audio… ( Monitor mix set to Both)
but non of the transport controls work, neither locate/set/ in/out or the shuttle wheel.
Also the faders don’t correspond with the tracks in the sequence…
    the faders don’t work, cannot select/mute/solo tracks…

So in short… the mixer works, the control surface doesnt

Now when i check my running applications, says CoreMIDIServer is runninng
but when I open the Force Quit Window, it says CoreMIDIServer not responding…

Does anyone have a solution, cause would love to be able to use the
    control surface….

    Greetings

although i didn’t get any reply,

I found out wat was the problem, and i’ll share it with you guys
for anyone who also is setting up the tascam

When adding control surface in Tools>Control Surfaces…

make sure in and output is set to Tascam FW- 1082 Control Port
    then everything works fine…

    cheers to you

    Maurik –

Bless you for your follow-up. ‘Control port’ did the trick. We were having the exact same problem(s).

The audio tool must be open in Final Cut in order to use the control surface. It looks like you have everything else configured properly.

Hello Maurik, I just came across these posts and I’ve been considering getting a 1082 or something similar to use with my Mac Pro / Leopard System with Final Cut Studio 2, Logic Studio, etc. Can you recommend this device to purchase still? Most of the Euphonix, Apogee gear, etc. are just out of my price range at this point but I still have to get things done. Thanks for anyone’s help with this question!
