    Hi,

A friend of mine came to me with the problem that every time he imports a clip onto the timeline he has to render it first, before he can view it.

He’s running Final Cut 5.1. I tried a simple test to see if I could view footage in the timeline without having to render.

All sequence settings were the same except the compressor setting. I’m using Apple Intermediary codec & he’s using HD1080i60

Any reason for this? I could not figure it out.

    Yes…you said it yourself…

EVERYTHING needs to match…especially the Compressor.
