    Hi there,

    Just a very quick one.

I have a client who has J3 digi player with component out (no SDI).

They want me to capture from this deck into fcp and do some reversions
to a broadcast programme. In the real world will component be good enough.

Would be laying back sdi to digi in a post house.

    Thanks for any advice.
    Danny.

    SO what is your question?

HDSDI / SDI is a digital component with embedded audio and Metadata.

    you loose nothing except connivence

    Hi Danny,
With a good capture card will be no difference if you go Components or SDI.
Whichever the way you take, you need a capture card and capture 10b Unc or Proress.
Just need the correct easy setup.

[Danny Davis] “In the real world will component be good enough. “

It’s been good enough for about 40 years now I believe. We run component out of our HDV decks and it’s good enough for HD Network Broadcast.

Get a Kona LHe and run Component directly in to your system. Or if you’re SDI input only, pick up an AJA HD10AVA converter to get an SDI stream out of that deck.

Right. Going SDI you avoid the Digital> Analog> Digital conversion of the Components solution. However this “d> a> d” process done, as Gary points in the other threads, with an AJA or BM is virtually “lossless”.

I have run into problems with the audio and video getting out of sync. when using the component in on my Kona LHe. Aja suggested a black burst generator to keep this from occuring. is this normal, does it ever happen to others using the aja card?

When you work by component you need to keep in sync four different signals (Y’U’V’+Audio).
A symple difference in the length of the cables could cause a delay in any of them.
