  • Creating Proxy in FCP

Ok so we just shot with the Red camera and I’m pretty new to all this workflow. Due to a short time frame the motion designers wanted me to convert the R3D files to QT Animation. It’s painfully slow but uncompressed 10 bit just gave me a screen full of tiny colored pixels.

I wanted to know how i could then create some proxies from that to edit in FCP so that i can reconnect them to the QT animation files at the end of the edit. This isn’t the best workflow i know but they want to work with AE CS3 and want to start on some images quicker than acually editing with the R3D proxies and converting afterwards.

Any help would be grateful as I’m well out of my boundaries at the moment.

    Thanks

    Matt

Try using RED Cine for this… I’ll bet it works… You can choose animation as a codec etc… free too. RED.com support…

Thanks Jerry. You know i did some tests with Red Cine last night where everything worked, then left a batch to convert and it left me with one file that was nothing but black. Using Red Rushes at the moment to convert them. I think it will lead to nothing but problems trying to work with the edit. Impatient motion designer.

Thanks for the tip and will look into it. Can Red Rushes create a proxy from the converted file as well?
