m2t files in FCP
Posted by Arjun Rao on February 13, 2009 at 7:49 pmHello All,
Would like to get feedback on using the Sony codec m2T files with FCP. How do you convert them to QTs, use compressor , render out in FCP ?Look forward to hearing from everyone.

February 13, 2009 at 9:03 pmIf you have Toast 9, you can use it to convert the files into any codec you have installed on your system.

February 14, 2009 at 2:48 amAll my love for Toast but is not an application to do any professional transcoding.
if you want transcode use MPEGStreamclip, but the “ClipWrap” pointed by Jeremy looks like a beter solution to me.
You only re-wrap your MPEG-2 as a .mov. so they can be easily edited in FC.
No transcoding, no generation lost and I guess can be a really fast process.

June 24, 2009 at 1:46 pmI got a plug in for fcp from the below link and it works great.
I have a sony Z7 and just connect the m2t files to my mac. Open fcp and go to “Transfer and capture”https://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/pro_hdv/fcp_plugin/

September 27, 2009 at 12:05 pmHi Keith,
I have the Z7 and I installed the plugin for the .m2t files. When I got into “log and transfer” in FCP it does not recognize the files. Where did I go wrong. I am using an 800 fire wire port card reader to read from the compact flash. Thanks in advance.Rofralyn Trinidad
