If someone could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Im having some issues in “print to tape” out of FCP 6.0. I shot all my footage using a Sony HDR-FX1 camera using HDV. I need to print a commercial I have created to tape using that same camera. I have been able to print to tape successfully, however the cable company is telling me that it is a very poor quality. Of course it looks fine on the camera, and while its capturing, but the final result loses a lot of quality. My guess could be that I am taking HD footage and feeding it back through in DV, and perhaps that’s where I am seeing the issues, but it doesn’t make sense. Of course I have everything in the camera switched to DV so that I can print-to-tape. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong…or has anyone else experienced this? Any bit of information will help… Thank you very much!

Please let me know if there is any other info I need to provide that might help someone assist me.

What do the cable company want? Is it an SD tape?

If so, then I suggest you create a quicktime of your final sequence to a facility that can play it to digibeta with a decent downconversion. Talk to them about what HD codec the Quicktime should be.

HDV is a useful camera format but certainly not a delivery format. All HDV material from here goes out via SDI to HDCam or downconverted by hardware to digibeta.

No its a MiniDV tape…I should have specified that before. Thank you though!
