  • Dell 24″ Monitor & RAM for Mac Pro – suggestions on where to purchase from.

Posted by Lisa Rolley on January 31, 2009 at 7:27 pm

So again I am configuring a studio set-up for a documentary and need to purchase all the equipment in the next couple of days.

I have gotten good feedback about Dell monitors and I am just curious where people recommend buying one of the 24″ new displays from.

My second question is about RAM – previous posts have suggested buying 2GB Memory sticks (with cooling) from NewEgg or similar sites because Apple is way over-priced – just curious to get some thoughts on this as well.

The Mac Pro is a 2.8 ghz 8 core.

    thanks in advance

Just buy it from Dell unless you can find a lesser price, which is usually not likely.

[lisa rolley] “My second question is about RAM”

Very easy to install, and you will save a bundle. *Just be sure you install in the right pattern, apple has an online page on this, as do some of the venders. FCP prefers it installed a certain way.

My Mac Pro is full of ram from Crucial, and my Macbook Pro is full of ram from OWC. Both running great and saved me $$$hundreds$$$

I have six Dell 24s from various time periods. They so Rock! Great picture and well used for a full screen to get pretty close true color. Get the higher quality one and for sure the adjustable pedestal.
No more Apple Cinema displays here.

I got several from outside vendors and three from Dell. Dell takes longer to ship most times. You can do some research and find them elsewhere. Again, they so rock. I use 2-24s on FCP and now on our Avids.

    Best of luck

I believe OWC has a a sale on some Dell 24″.

Don’t know if this matches any other prices. I get a email blast from OWC and this one was part of it.

    Good luck
