frame rate problem
Hy all,
hope somebody can help me with this problem, I am quite fresh FCP user so…I am editing at the moment and I am stuck with a problem I
cannot solve even with solutions I read on forums.
Here it is:
The video was shoot on sony z7 HD 1080i progressive but the problem is on
the same tape (sony HDV, DV mini DV) I have 25fps and some parts on 50fps (some fast light shoots)
i worked with 25fps with no problem and my sequence is set on
1440,1080 proress422 HQ
The problem is with 50fps parts.
it always capture this on 25fps and it is a very bad quality.
is there a way to do this on this sequence at all or I should do this some other way?Thans

hmm. I’ve never tried to mix frame rates before, but if I were in your shoes my instincts would tell me to take the 50fps footage into Compressor and export it as 25fps. Make sure you activate the frame controls pane and select the proper options to achieve the best quality.
If you have a Kona3 card, I think it can do the conversion in real time.

50i is 25 frames, composed of 2 fields per frame.. it’s 50 fields and 25 frames. So capaturing it should result in 25 frames per second.
Are you capturing the HDV as ProRes instead of native HDV? If so, edit in ProRes sequence setting. But if you’re capturing it AS HDV, then don’t do that… instead RENDER to ProRes changing the setting in the HDV sequence’s settings. You’ll find this in the Video Processing Tab of that sequence’s settings opened by selecting it in the Browser and typing cmd+zero.

Your message is a bit messy for me.
What you mean, that some i50 footage have been captured as p25?
Is your sequence i50 or p25?
Check the i50 footage as Upper-first in the Browser.
If you drop it in a p25 sequence you need to de-interlace it.

Capture preset is set on HDV-apple ProRess 422 (HQ)
Device control preset is HDV FireWire 50fps (in this case)Perhaps I should also mention that I am capturing from HDV mini deck.
On the tape I have 1080i progressive 25fps and 50fps combined.
Hope this bring some light in my problem.
