23.98 sequence in offline to 29.97 in online
After many discussions with clients, we have decided that a film that was edited in 23.98 will be reformatted to 29.97. Easy right? Except that 1/3 of the film was shot at 29.97 and 2/3 in 23.98. When I make a new sequence and make it 29.97, gaps will show up between cuts because of the time change. I was told that there may be a way to get an edl to do the work for me and put everything back together exactly the way it was in the 23.98 sequence. Does anyone know if this is the case, and if so how to do it? Do I need to use Cinema Tools to reformat the edl?
Also, when I dropped some 23.98 media into a 29.97 timeline, the pulldown was off and the motion looked jittery. In my settings the pulldown is set to 2:3:2:3 as it should be, but I had to play through a terranex to make the pulldown correct. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your help.
Mike
