Import and edit divx movies from divx camera
Help anyone, I have lost faith in Apple and FCP if this doesnt work.
I have iMac, OsX 10.5.6, FCP 6.0.5, QuickTime Pro, Divx Pro and a camera that records in divx.
The reason I bought the computer to be able to edit files made with this camera, but if I have to re-encode before editing, there is no point in having a mac.
I have divx avi video files from the camcorder, that are 30fps, 640×384 and divx 6.0 encoded.
When I import the files into FCP to be edited, I can play the files individually in the viewer window, but can not edit them, because they display as blue screen (unrendered media) in the editor window. I figured I need to set the audio/video settings (that will be applied for the sequence) so that they match the imported media (which is far more complex than the Premiere Pro 2 experience, where the editor window will show ANY media, even if the sequence settings for final export are different, but anyway). So I have made sequence settings for 30fps and 640×384, but the compressor does not list divx option. It seems it has anything else but divx…
Did I miss something?Does that mean that divx files can not be edited without previously being transcoded???? This can not be right, Premiere Pro 2 or any older version never had such problem and didn’t need rendering to edit anything.
If this is true, i am installing XP to this stupid mac immediately and declare FCP useless – which it surely isn’t. Pls help! Thanks, s
