  Working with jpegs in FCP 6.05

  Hi

  I’m working on FCP 6.05 on a Macbook Pro dual core 2.6ghz, 4gb ram.

  I’m trying to cut a montage together using jpegs but FCP keeps crashing. I have heard of some issues related to working with still images and i’ve taken the obvious measures of increasing still cache size but nothing seems to work.

  The jpegs are under 4mb and under 4000pix in either direction. As soon as i add a few titles or anything that requires rendering FCP becomes really unstable and repeatedly crashes.

  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i’m really tearing my hear out.

  thats still way to big for fcp to handle. Even Vegas which can handle huge picture sizes would choke on that.

  they need to be resized down to around 800×600 for D1 size video

  if its HD make them around 1200 pix vertically.

  Hey

  thanks for your advice. i tried resizing the images to DV PAL format whch is 720×576 and now they appear tiny in FCP canvas at 100%. I don’t get it.

  Presumably they should appear at the standard frame size? I don’t get it.

  Confused….any ideas

  on the timeline double click a picture so it opens in the viewer
  under one of the tabs at the top of the viewer, look at “scale”
  it has likely been changed from 100 %

  this is probably from having all those pictures brought in
  at much bigger size so fcp resized them.
