    Hi Everybody.
Im trying to get some advice about the most recommended dream machine for working on AE, of course my budget is limited, however I will try to get the best I can. Any suggestion in processor, ram, motherboard video card is more than welcome.
    Thanks everybody.

    Just my opinion:

Get the fastest processor and most RAM you can get. Don’t worry about getting small increases in processor speed — put the money towards more RAM.

Multiple processors can be well used with the Nucleo plugin.

Naturally, you need to keep your source files away from the system drive. I’d get another drive for renders. A RAID could help, but it’s not as necessary as with video editing apps.

If you get an approved graphics card, that’s good enough. Don’t waste money on an expensive card.

    Motherboard is irrelevant.

Look into video I/O cards such as the Decklink or Kona. These will allow you to see your comps on a TV, better than through a DV camcorder.

Get a big monitor, or get two.

Get an excellent, ergonomic chair. Excellent, ergonomic chair.

The reason why AE isn’t so picky regarding hardware (fast proc, lots of RAM) is that it uses different parts of the system at different times, so trying for a small increase in one area may benefit one project, but won’t benefit another project.

    Ahoy

I to am venturing into upgrading my system…
one thing i found out is that its likely that quad core processors are soon to be getting a big price cut (probally to make way for a new version on themselves), so im leaving it for a month or so to see if thats true… anothing thing some one suggested to me, was to get a graphics card from ebay… because ALOT of gamers are constantly upgrading there cards so that can play the latest games, so they end up selling perfectly decent cards for nothing!!! Thank god for HALO!!!

    Good luck

Yes mother board matters. All your components work together. A ton of ram and a fast processor is nothing without a reliable motherboard with a decent chipset on it. Would you buy a ferrari and put walmart tires on it???
