  Final Cut Freezing trying to load Motion Template fil

  We have been having troubles opening a specific file in Final Cut. It is freezing at the same spot each time. The screen reads “Loading Text Assembler.hd.motn”. The first few times it did this, we would force quit, trash preferences, reopen and it would load fine. Today we did the same process and it hung. We’ve tried several things. I even removed the Text Assembler.hd.motn file from the Motion Templates library to see if I could get it to just be missing media in our Final Cut Document. That didn’t work. I trashed all of my render files, I have tried everything I can think of. Is there something I’m missing. I can’t find an instance of the string “Text Assembler.hd.motn” anywhere on the internet, so perhaps I am the first to experience this problem. If you have any advice I would love to hear it.

  System Specs:
  Final Cut Studio 2
  4 x2.5 GHz Power PC G5
  4.5 Gb ram
  OSX 10.5.6

  Thanks for the response. We’re actually using it in Final Cut. If you go to the Effects tab, you can go to the Master Templates and use the Text Assembler.hd.motn out of the 3d text Projects folder. So we never leave Final Cut to use the Motion Template. I understand that there are often issues taking Motion files into Final Cut without rendering. Any ideas on how to keep it from freezing up when loading, or how to force it to open in the event that it keeps hanging up. I couldn’t even get to the project to delete it.

  Update: We took the file to a laptop running FCP and were able to open it, slowly, but it opened. We deleted the offending file, saved as, renamed it, and took it back over to our other machine. It opened fine. If we hadn’t been able to do this and it would have kept freezing we would have been out several hours on our edit since our last save as. If there’s anything you or anyone else can think of to get a project open when it’s hanging like that, I’d love to hear it.

  I know that’s right!

  I am having real headaches with this and until Apple fixes it, they will get anywhere between 5 – 7 crash reports a day sharing my intense frustration with this.

  APPLE!!! HELLO!!! Anyone listening….! Fix this!
