Advice on mixing DVCPRO HD with Flipcam HD footage in timeline
Hi,
I have a project in which the majority of footage was shot on DVCPRO HD and P2. It was already loaded into FCP before I started on the project, with the DVCPRO HD 720p60 codec at 960×720 and at 23.98fps.
Also have flipcam HD footage which needs to be integrated… its native format is MP4 with H.264 compression, 1280×720, at 29.97, which I know will have to be converted.
I feel like since almost all the footage is already in at 23.98, I should work in a 23.98 timeline. Do you guys agree with that? I’m concerned because I’m not certain what our delivery format is at this point. It will likely be a DVD for now, but there will be a possibility that eventually it will have to go to tape for broadcast, and I’m trying to figure out the best plan of attack to avoid headaches down the line.
I did a quick test with the flipcam footage and tried to make it 23.98 in compressor, but it was kind of jittery. Any advice on how to deal with integrating this stuff in the smoothest way?
I’m using FCP 6.0.3, no capture card.
Thanks for any and all advice!
Molly
