    Right here goes!

Working with XDCAM EX for the first time and am being sent the media on a Hard drive to work on tomorrow.

The Footage data has been converted so it can be edited in FCP 6.05 now here-in lies my question…

Do i need the original camera data (the MP4 files and all the rest of it) or can i be sent just the QT versions converted by the sony(?) software? it seems like a huge amount of data to send with the original camera files when i can only work from the converted ones anyway….

Any help and ideas much appreciated as always……….

The very best option when working with XDCAM EX footage is to backup ALL of the card files to Blu-Ray discs in its entirety. Then you can use FCP to convert the footage to Quicktime to a hard drive for editing. After that, place those incredibly important Blu-Ray discs in a safe place.
