    Hi,

I am trying to open mxf files in Final Cut Pro 6. The files have mov extension as well as mxf extension:
filename.mov.A49496383.mxf and they are exported from AVID.
With these files I also have msmFMID.pmr file and msm.mmob.mdb file. Are these apart of the work project file?

Is there a way to convert them to a quick time file so they would play on FCP? if i need to use another program to convert them can you recommend one?

    Many thanks,
    Maayan

    Hi Maayan,
Type “mfx” in the search window and I bet that you will find the answer.
    Happy New Year,

    Thank you!
I managed to open the files with Caliberated software, but I am now stuck with the AVID project files that I need to open ( msmFMID.pmr and msm.mmob.mdb ). Is there anyway that I can open these files without purchasing Automatic Duck https://www.automaticduck.com/products/?

If you have access to an Avid to open the project you could export an EDL and an XML from the Avid and try linking the the imported EDL or XML in FCP to the MXF media. Dont know if this works, but worth a try.
