Any thoughts on quality of Matrox MXO downconvert
Posted by Jonathan White on December 23, 2008 at 10:36 amFor various reasons I’m considering purchasing an MXO for down converting my XDCam EX footage to SD for output to PAL Digibeta for broadcast.
Does anyone know how it’s downconvert quality compares with other options (AJA, Blackmagic etc.)?
Thanks,
Johnny White

December 23, 2008 at 6:34 pmI have used this on my home system, because my office had the Kona 3 tied up on a project. Output DVCPRO HD to betaSP. Looked great. Hardware downconvert.
I haven’t done a test between the two…never felt the need. But the output I did was perfectly fine.

December 23, 2008 at 9:56 pmThanks for letting me know. I’m thinking of the MXO as I don’t want to buy a new tower to get pci-e and the HD monitoring seems pretty good too. Given the move to tapeless acquisition I imagine it’s still a popular option…

December 24, 2008 at 10:27 pmOops! I keep wanting to hear more experiences with the MXO2 from the editing trenches, so when I see MXO I read MXO2.
