June 1, 2007 at 12:42 pmFor metal, draw one in Illustrator then just cut to it onscreen. Or buy one of those fake bullet hole stickers and scan it.
For other materials, you’ll need to find a stock image of one, and use something like Shatter (in AE) to simulate the stuff flying away from the thing that has been hit.
Try Googling “bullet hole” and “stock”.

June 2, 2007 at 12:33 amI’d use Shatter. Create your bullet hole using a small layer and then apply Cell Pattern, tweak to taste to get some roundish-looking spot(s). Then apply Roughen Edges. Use the result as a Custom Shatter Map.
In Shatter, use a gradient to time the appearance of the bullet hole(s).
