Help. My boss has ask me to find out what is needed to build an Final Cut Pro editing system from scratch. I have no experience in this area and would be very thankful for any and all assistance.

We would need a system that can sustain a small feature film.

    thank you,

Where are you located? I’d recommend finding a local VAR (Value Added Reseller).

If you just want to buy Imac on apple.com, a bunch of Lacie drives, and use your camcorder as a deck, feel free. But, that sort of setup will not be reliable over the duration of post production for your feature.

Buying a Mac is simple, but in order to edit a long form project, you’ll need storage, a capture card, a video monitor, audio, and more. VARs will help you make decisions and sell you a package.

If you know nothing about this, it would be VERY wise to get people to do this for you…people who do this for a living.
