Can I move the applications included in the final cut studio suite from my applications folder to another folder within my applications folder

Right now final cut pro, motion, dvd studio, color, compressor, cinema tools, and live type are in my applications folder. I want to create another folder in my applications folder and place the applications inside it for the purposes of keeping all the apps together and easier to find.

If I do this will the apple software update be able to locate them. Also will there be any problems with the integration between the applications, will they still be able to communicate with each other when exporting data for editing with another app in the suite

    Any feedback is appreciated, Thanks

I wouldn’t recommend moving the apps. Plus, you needn’t move them to achieve your purpose anyway, just create a directory anywhere with aliases that point to the apps, or create aliases on the dock, or a stack on te dock if you’re using Leopard.

They can be moved but if you do software update may no longer see them and thus not give any updates for them.

Which means, as I said, don’t move ’em, just move the aliases that point to ’em.

What about putting the applications in the dock? That’s about as easy to find as there is.

[Steven Gonzales] “What about putting the applications in the dock?”

Is there an echo in here? I said that four posts ago.

Steven, your good manners far outweigh any infraction, or even any fraction on an infraction.

hey david, what’s your take on the auto rendering that adobe premiere CS4 does? If it was up to you would u suggest that for FCP if it was possible or do you prefer having to render manually after every change, and if you prefer the manual render what are the benefits?

    any feedback is appreciated, Thanks.
