  Final Cut resolution Problems

  I recently acquired final Cut Studio and when I try to use FInal Cut it will only function in a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 which is a very small area on my macbook pro screen. When I try to use it in the normal resolution I use 1152 x 720, it doesn’t want to function properly. My friend has the same system I have and doesn’t seem to have this problem If anyone can tell me how to fix this or why it is occurring it would be greatly appreciated.
