  Render problem after OS 10.4.9 and FCP install

  Hi–I’m an intermediate AE user, with AE 5.5 on a Mac G4. I have a Media 100 P6000 E6000
  I just upgraded to OS 10.4.9, and installed FCP on my machine too. Now I can open and work in AE, but when I try to render a comp, the software seems to be having trouble with the video card, and though the render progress bar chugs along, nothing actually gets rendered. Color bars come up on my video monitor intermittently, just like when the system is booting.

  Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks very much, Rick

  what os were you using prior to os 10.4.9? the software and hardware you mention are quite old and may not work well with the new os.

  have you checked media100 to make sure your cards are supported in 10.4.9 (and the version of quicktime you are using) and make sure you have updated drivers for those cards.

  likewise ae5.5 may have issues with newer quicktime versions. check with adobe for updates, patches or recomended qt versions. if you are using third party codecs, you may want to try updating those too.
