Panasonic BT-LH1700W vs. ACD+HD Link
Posted by Scott Davis on November 17, 2008 at 6:54 pmAny thoughts on using a Panasonic BT-LH1700W vs. a Cinema Display via an HD Link to finish on?
Project is low budget straight ahead doc. Footage is very good to begin with and final grade will not be complex. Final delivery is PBS.
Thanks for any comments.

PANASONIC…all the way. You can properly calibrate the monitor to color bars…VERY IMPORTANT. Not sure if you can with the HD LInk…can you? I know you can calibrate the ACD with the MXO. But I have no experience with the HD Link.
But…if it can calibrate the ACD to bars…I might feel comfortable with it. I am comfortable with the MXO/ACD solution. But I get stern talks from professional colorists for than stance.

Then you might be used to tough broadcast standards like I am. When beginners ask about broadcast TV specs, we always point to the PBS specs, because they are the toughest around. Discovery’s were tough, but only because of the timing of commercial breaks.

November 18, 2008 at 10:53 pmWe have the Panny 1700 and also a MXO + ACD. Before we got our new monitor, we edited with the MXO + ACD. I put the Panny beside it as a test and they were very close.
