We just got a rental deck in and I am having weird, intermitten TC problems. I believe they are due to settings in the deck. I am capturing HDV NDF tapes. In the deck settings under “TC” do I want “INT Preset”, “INT Regen”, or “EXT Regen”?

Also, under “Run Mode” what should I set it at?

    Thanks in advance.

Those settings are only for recording. If you are using the deck for capture none has any effect. I’ve found HDV to be unreliable for Batch Capture. One tape will be fine and another will fail to find the TC. Sometimes I have to use the Capture Now function just to get the stuff into my system. Regardless of how I capture, Batch or Capture Now I back up the media to another drive assuming that a recapture may not work.

“Uneliable” at best. Wow. Now I am really nervous as we are offlining (donwnconversion to DV with Kona) and then doing an online at another facillity. Is this going to be a nightmare?

Perhaps you should reconsider your workflow and work in native HDV.
