How do I export to FLV?
Posted by Steve Price on November 10, 2008 at 11:50 amI can’t see an option to export to Flash. Surely this isn’t right!
I have a QT movie – 320×240, 11Mb, and my client wants it as a Flash movie.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Steve.

November 10, 2008 at 11:55 amDo you have a Flash encoder installed, like Flash or something else? If you didn’t install one you’re not going to get a Flash export function. Try googling for Flash encoders.
All the best,

November 10, 2008 at 3:48 pmTry exporting using the H264 codec, then change the file extension from mov to flv. The latest Flash player should be able to play that.

November 11, 2008 at 11:38 amTom – do you know a secret method to get this to work?
After upgrading to a new Macpro and 10.5.5 (from 10.4.11) I no longer have the Macromedia Flash export option that i had become so dependant on. I have reinstalled all my software (including upgardes) but i no longer have the flv export option. I even have new Flash export software which came with the Adobe CS4 packages. The flv components appear in the Quicktime folders in the library but still no export in FCP.

December 6, 2008 at 12:16 amreally??? so no need for Sorensen or the cheaper FLV encoders? i was just coming on here to find the latest best way to send a client a Flash file out of FCP, and was resigned to know that i either have to spend $250 for Sorensen, or $22 for Visual Hub (though it sounds like you get what you pay for as far as quality goes…), but if this H264 option works, life will be dandy and the recession is over! like Rush Limbaugh, if there is a recession or depression, i refuse to participate. : )
thanks again!
