    Hello,
I have a quick question… We’re in pre production on a show and almost getting ready to shoot some preliminary stuff (which can creep into the final show). We’ve always shot 1080i60, the producer on this one has brought some inquiry as to a progressive workflow for this show. I’ve never posted in 1080p and never worked with 1080p30 footage before. What are the pro’s and con’s of this? Our HD master’s are done at 1080i60. I’ve talked to a friend and he mentioned that there are problems when doing international masters with 1080p30. I just want to keep the workflow simple. We’ve had some ugly frame rate conversions done in the past and would like to avoid that. Sky is the limit here I just wanted some other opinions on HD formats before I make the final decision.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Quick answer to a complicated issue: Progressive is easier to work with in post, although giving a different look to the footage. However, the primary consideration should be what format you have to deliver in.

I’m sure others will wade in with more detail.
