How to use a different file to reconnect a media in Final Cut Pro?
Some of my video files are accidentally deleted and was emptied from trash. Then I tried to recover those files using Data Rescue II and it was a success. Though I got my files back, they doesn’t have a file extension. Then I appended the .mov extension to the files. But when I tried to reconnect the file, FCP cannot find it nor use it even though the recovered file has the same file name and size. Also, the recovered files opens in quicktime without problems. Please help me.

Uncheck the option SAME FILE NAME in the reconnect window, then try. Be SURE to select the right clip.

I already unchecked the same file name option. but when I use the same clip (the recovered one) fcp won’t use it though it has the same attributes as the original.

Can you import the file directly? Recovered files can become so corrupt that yes, QT can play them, but FCP can’t see them properly.
Is this footage you can recapture from tape, or reimport from tapeless media (like P2)? That is always preferrable to data recovery.

Thanks for the help!
I finally solved the problem. What I did was I opened the recovered files in Quicktime and saved it as a self-contained video file. After that, the FCP can finally recognize it.
