Strangley low-res image , Caused by use of Gain??
OK I know gain causes the image to look crappy.
But I just did a shoot in HDV 1080i50
and when i import now the footage looks just BAD. It looks like Normal DV. I used two different model cameras, and both of them look the same, so its made me conclude its one of two things:
I am importing it wrong somehow, or the DV tapes I used suck in some way. But they are TDK, and its extrememly rare that the tapes will cause low res image isnt it?
I just chose easy setup, HDV, same as a million times before when i imported this stuff.
Also, i tried moving some of the clips to timelines in other HDV projects to check it wasnt some weird setting in the sequence of this project, but they looked exactly the same in those other timelines too.
Whats going on? Really confused. Thanks for any help.

Look at the clip settings in the Browser..are they HDV? The camera can downconvert to DV (camera setting) so make sure that you did indeed capture as HDV. But then know that you cannot judge the quality of your image with your computer monitors. To see what you really have, you need an HD output card or box and an HDTV or broadcast monitor. Decklink, AJA, Matrox…
