cannot get fcp 5 to open
last week, i tried to open a project that i was almost finished with using fcp 5.0.4. the application opened, but it said all the work files could not be found. i have searched all hard drives and they are not there …. grrrrrr. now i am trying to open fcp 5 to start over and the application will not open. the beginning screen comes up, then the application closes. no error codes or nothing – just closes. i have downloaded the upgrade version fcp 5.0.4 from apple, restarted the system 2 times and still no change. anybody have an idea of what is going on ???? alan

this may be a dumb question, but i just know. if i cannot get fc to open at all, how do i trash the preferences ?

Thank you, thank you. that did the job. fcp 5 is now up. now for the original problem of which is where i was last week.they are all now “missing media” and i have tried to locate and search with no luck. the files show up in the browser, with times etc. and the timeline shows the files but without rendering. any trick to locate all these missing files before i have to start all over again ? i appreciate your help and your time.

Hi Alan,
Few FC versions have had problems retrieving the renderd files. If you still have the files in the Renders Folder, you can import them to FC and lay them in the sequence.
