We have several of these monitors. They’re great. Yes, we have the HDSDI boards for them, but they are NOT cheap! Having these boards makes for the easiest interface between source and monitor. At a professional level, your only other option would be to get a HDSDI >>> to HDMI converter box from AJA or Blackmagic. Those boxes are around $500 bucks. The Board for the Panasonic is around $1500.

If audio sync to source is important (protools, or editing) then you may want to stay with the built in board. If latency is not as crucial, you can probably get away with the converter.

My BM Multibridge Pro has hdmi out and sdi out.
This is why i wondel which way to go.

hdmi board is about 300 bucks and sdi is 1800 or someting like that.

Sync is no problem with multibridge i think.

HDMI is now standard on this unit (or maybe it’s the 42″). If you need HDMI, then get it.

Don’t waste your money on SDI unless you really feel like you need it. We have the 50″ and 2 of the 42″ models in our shop and they all have dual Component inputs.

The two that are connected to our BluRay players also have HDMI as we use that for viewing.

I’m pretty sure Panny added HDMI standard to all their screens last year but you’ll need to double check on that. I know the 42’s come with a dual HDMI input standard now.

I’m running Component out of the Multibridge to my 42″ at the moment, and it looks spankingly good on HD, and surprisingly good on SD. Yet to try HDMI but will do at some point.

I have the same setup (multibridge extreme model on a 50″ plasma) with HDMI there is
an out of field order issue you may experience. I gave the requested data output
to black magic nearly 2 years ago and they have to this day not addressed the issue.

its no surprise that SD looks good on a plasma, the pixel structure mimics CRT
far more than LCD does, especially the Panasonic line.
