video levels spike after rendering sequence…
I was wondering if anyone can shed light on an issue that I have been experiencing. I’m using Final Cut version 6.0.2. I am converting footage that was shot in 4:3 to anamorphic 16:9. In order to do this I create an anamorphic sequence, drop the 4:3 footage onto it, and then do a digital zoom of about 136% to make the footage fill the screen. I check the video levels to make sure nothing is above 100%. Everything looks fine, and I am ready to render. Here’s where the problem happens– after rendering, the video levels magically jump up above 100%. They were fine before, but now they need adjusting!?! So, I apply the proc amp filter. Immediately, before I even adjust the filter, the levels drop back to where they were originally. So, I re-render the sequence, and the same thing happens again– the levels jump back up above 100%. I believe that the digital zoom is somehow causing this problem, and I can’t figure out how to get around it. The frustrating thing is that I am unable to get an accurate video level reading prior to rendering, because the very process of rendering is altering the video levels. Any thoughts?
