I’m on a project editing a 4 minute film to music. Its all very fast cutting and cut precisely to the music.
I export a FCP self contained Quicktime movie file to import into Squeeze or Compressor.
When I make an MPEG-1 or MPEG-4 I notice on playback that they are 3 or 4 frames out of sync.
Thinking it was the MPEG I checked the self contained movie export and I noticed that was also out of sync.
Any suggestions what is causing this

    Cheers

Make sure the timeline and the audio tracks are set to the same frequency. Music tracks can often be 44kHz and some tracks from video can even be 32kHz. Make sure you timeline settings (click in the timeline and the click Sequence>Settings) and your audio settings match.

My audio track and sequence settings didn’t match, one was 48 khz and the other 44.1.
I adjusted accordingly but has made no difference.
I’ve discovered that if I move the music track back by 5 frames then the self contained QT export is now in sync, but obviously watching live in FCP is now out of sync ??

Additionally, I have just exported using Compressor and the MPEG2 files for DVD are still 5 frames out of sync !

[Paul Jones] “Additionally, I have just exported using Compressor and the MPEG2 files for DVD are still 5 frames out of sync !”

Does it start in sync and by the end of the timeline it is out of sync by 5 frames? Or is it out by 5 frames the entire timeline?

Latest discovery is when I select View/External Video/Off, then its all back in sync.
When I select View/External Video/All Frames, ie through my decklink card, thats when it goes 5 frames out of sync.
I can’t see how to adjust anything in the Decklink settings
