Painting on a Letter
I have a logo which is really and fancy script font of the letter N. I have it in eps format. I would like to paint or pen it onto the screen. Like i was writing it. I want it to have a pen look and not just a dissolve or reveal look. Can someone point me in the right direction as it relates to a tutorial or solution? thanks/

Cool The flowery one helped a bit but Im still having issues making it look good. attatched is my ae file (AE7). I tried animating the write on brush size but this is the best i could get it to look. maybe i need to cut the “N” up more.
I cut the N up into 2 pieces. and then used the write on effect and then later animated the brush size out. If i have a large brush size to begin with it overlaps part of the N and shows part of it when it shouldn’tId like it to brush on as i go…and not have to increase the brush size at the end.
any thoughts?

Definitely, cut up the N into more pieces: one stroke per piece.
Because the shape is so irregular (unlike, say, arial) you might have to do this by hand, animating a mask for each letter segment, without even using write-on.
Alternately, if you have access to a Wacom tablet, you could try varying the pressure (and thus, the width) as you write, using Vector Paint. It’s tricky and subtle. Just like real Chinese calligraphy!
Sadly, stroke-writing information isn’t included in the Postscript or TrueType spec, so we have to do this sort of thing by hand. Tell the producers that. 🙂

cool..thanks. any tutorials or articles on vector paint? never used it before. can i tweak the pressure manually? i dont have a tablet.
