First of all, I’d like to thank Aharon for his article in the newest CreativeCOW magazine. I found it very enlightening, and I’d like to try to upload a Sorenson Spark Codec .FLV to YouTube to avoid their re-compression.

I also read an article over on Ken Stone’s website talking about YouTube compression and how the actual dimensions of the videos are 425×318.
    https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/youtube_compressor_gary.html

So, if I’ve got an anamorphic video, is it possible to get those dimensions by letterboxing the footage in Squeeze or would I need to letterbox before getting to Squeeze? And if I submit a video that isn’t those dimensions, will they automatically recompress to get those dimensions?

    Thanks,
    Brent

You tube no longer allows you to upload FLV’s – or rather, they re-compress them. It happeend a week before the magazine shipped out, but it was too late to stop the presses.

    Sorry.

I have this question as well, but instead of exporting as an flv, I’m going to do Photo Jpeg. Still, is there a way to letterbox in Squeeze to get a 16:9 to 4:3 (or actually the 425 x 318 aspect ratio) without stretching?
