square pixel and non square pixel on the same sequence to create a dvd
Hi
I work for an animation company and I create for them showreel dvds to present our work. Most of the time I have to put together different media with different formats, some with non square pixel some with square pixel (1024×576 square pixel animation). i usually create a sequence in fcp n then i export it with compressor (best quality dvd settings) n burn it with dvd sp.what I am doing in fcp is creating a sequence with these settings:
720×576 CCIR 601/dv pal (5:4), pixel Aspect ratio Pal – CCIR 720×576 (i don’t check the anamorphic) field upper
in this way of course all the square pixel files change their aspect to match the tv settings. but they loose a hell of quality n look bad on monitor n on mac screen. it’s not only the problem that a circle is not a circle but the fact that the pixel look larger n the lines are pixelated n in general all the image looks poorer in definition. this is of course not good for presenting our job.
so i created a sequence with these settings
768×576 CCIR 601 PAL square 4:3
pixel asp rat Square, not selected the anamorphic
field NONEin this way of course the animation files look perfect on mac screen n slightly deformed on the monitor (circle is not a circle), but at least the quality n definition of the animation are preserved
but not all my files are 1024×576 square pixel. some come from beta n they don’t match the settings of the new sequence so when they r together in the same sequence the files from beta SP lose their quality.
now, I am not extremly experienced, so i am sure i am doing something wrong n there must be a solution to have good quality dvds with these source materials.
So i am asking to anybody who can help me if there is a solution to this problem that is quite important to me (my producers are at my ankles biting me everyday!!!)thanks for ur attention
