  • XDCAM IMPORT ERROR TO FCP

    Hi.

I’m trying to import an XD CAM clip to FCP with XDCAM Transfer. The clip is actually more than 50 minutes long, which I can view with XDCAM Browser. But as i try to import the clip, it seems like it is only 11 minutes long. Also, in the middle of importing, I get this error message:

    Import Error
The clip could not be imported. There may be insufficient disc space.

Although I have more than enough disc space.

    Any useful hints?

    Thanks!

    Annu

Well at the risk of being painfully obvious … have you got enough disk space?

Where are you importing the clip to? Internal hard drive, dedicated media drive or ? You target the Import directory in the XDCAM Preferences which by default is set to the ~/Movies folder. You will probably want to change this to your external. What version of XDCAM Transfer are you using? Versions prior to 2.x had a major bug which could result in your hi res imports being directed to the otherwise hidden /Volumes directory if you inadvertently launched XDCAM Transfer without the target drive mounted.

Which version off the XDCAM transfer software are you using? The most recent version is 2.7.1

Yes I have disc space. I am importing it to an external hard drive.

    I’m using version 2.5.1.

I’m using version 2.5.1. Do you have a link to the latest version? Would it make a difference?

How do I do that? I’m new to FCP.

It might fix your problem – you can download it from Sony. Try http://www.sonybiz.net

How much space do you have on your External drive? Does that sound about right?
How much space do you have on your built-in system drive? Does that sound about right?

Go to your XDCAM Transfer menu > Preferences window >> Import tab … what path is shown for the Import Location?
