  • Video blurry when playing

Posted by Elizabeth Bridenstine on August 22, 2008 at 2:49 pm

I’m not sure how this happened, but for the past 2 weeks my video footage is blurry in Final Cut.

It looks crisp in the Viewer and Canvas when it is paused, but when it plays in either it loses a lot of quality.

This happens with both video footage and web screen shots, and does it in both DV NTSC and NTSC Anamorphic.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

Are you looking at a rendered output on a video monitor?

    All the best,

No. I am looking at a rendered video on a timeline in Final Cut on a computer monitor.

Are your Viewer and Canvas windows set to 100% size?

At the top left of the timeline there is a button with ‘RT’ on it. Click that and make sure that it’s all set to Best. Having it set to dynamic can sometimes cause you to see low res images.

That’s what it was, I set it to “Dynamic” and it looks great. Didnt think to check that.

    Thanks for all the help!
