Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy dropped frames

    Hi all,

I’m running FCP 6 on an iMac G5 (2GHz CPU, 2GHz ram, ATI Radeon 9600 gfx card).

My media is on an external drive connected with firewire400. My project is NTSC and my RT setting is set to safe.

Media plays back fine, but when I add a dissolve between two clips (and render it) playback stops at the first frame of the rendered dissolve. Then the dropped frames window comes up.

I’ve tried everything to get continuous playback, but it just isn’t happening. There’s plenty of space on both my internal and external drives as well.

Any ideas…. do I just not have enough “juice” to get real time?

    Thanks,

    Bob

NTSC is a broadcast format, not a project setting. What is your project setting?

Yep, my external is set as my scratch disc.

Project setting is DV/DVC PRO (is this what you meant by setting?).

Looks like I may have identified the problem as being caused by an animation codec in my original quicktime files, which my timeline was conformed to.

That would do it. You would need a very fast array to play back animation in realtime.
