Whenever I use log and capture and the sound is out of synch, it always seems to be 21 frames out. This seems to be irrespective of the deck used, although all have been 50i or 25P. Its easily fixed by recapturing the tape, but I was just wondering if anyone knew why its always 21 frames?

apologies if I missed the earlier details regarding the specifics or your system, i/o and capture method, but it would seem that you either have an issue with the signal path getting into FCP, or when monitoring the captured footage after the fact ? just a thought given the symptoms

It sounds like your speakers are not connected to your capture card. You FCP manual has a series of diagrams that show how to connect your video monitor & speakers to in a variety of setups. Check the manual to see how to connect your speakers properly.
