i have just moved an FCP project from a MAC with FCP 5.1.4 to a MAC with FCP 6.0.1. the new computer is running OSX 10.5.2

the timeline contains a psd file that has a light ray effect on it. the effect worked on the original MAC, but when i try to render it on the new MAC, i get a message saying ‘unable to render light rays’. (white writing on a red background where the clip should be)

the strange thing is that, there is one old timeline in the project, that DOES play back the effect. i think maybe this is because it is reading an old render file, because when i copy and paste the psd with the ray effect into the new timeline, it will not play back.

both old and new versions of FCP have the light ray effect, so not sure why this is not translating?

    thanks for help.

I’m unclear why it won’t render, but if you have a sequence with it rendered in it, you should be able to export a self contained movie file of it, then just cut that into your sequence.
